Whats for dinner tonight? > A Friday evenings Chow Bowl
Published: 2008-09-27 04:55:04
Oh la la---Friday evening, time for fun, good food and relaxation.

Fancy or not, she is a wonderful cook. I almost hesitate to ask her whats on the nightly menu in her home .When I do ask , which is usually daily (because I just can stand to not know) the "Chow Bowl" as she down plays her cooking, is always mouth watering! My sister jokes as she calls and politely asks "so whats on the menu" at AMY'S this evening? Before I can answer Kathy says "local from her garden and how  is is prepared"? I can also sense my sisters eagerness to learn of this just as I  want to know...this evening is was California wild caught halibut, sauteed in our Hillstone Arbequina olive oil with chopped fresh herbs from the garden; nutted pilaf cooked slowly and permeating the air perfectly with the aroma of the halibut cooking;  mixed green baby lettuces with sliced California avocado and heirloom tomatoes from the garden. Her salad dressing is very light. It's great on  raw vegetables as well as lettuces. She uses our olive oil, her fathers homemade red wine vinegar and mixed into this is chopped green onion, slight chopped anchovy, poupon mustard, kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper. Amy likes a good Sauvignon Blanc so I'll take bets on that was the preferred wine, although I did not ask. And for dessert was a wonderful apple pie that her husband made the day before.....buon appetito, guten appetite, and all those other salutations!

My meal consisted of a great grilled burger that came from our own ranch. I'll post more about my "chow bowl" tomorrow!

How do I get invited to Amy's house for dinner?! Hillstone Olive Oil should consider opening a restaurant. Seriously. And that dipping sauce you serve at your demos and tastings...it absolutely should be bottled up and marketed!
